Sneak Peek of Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and the New France Expansion at Epcot
Updated: Feb 3
Last week I got an exciting sneak peek of the highly anticipated France expansion at Epcot, anchored by the headlining attraction Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
Based on Disney and Pixar’s hit film, Ratatouille, this 4D family-friendly attraction will invite you to shrink down to the size of a rat for a culinary adventure with Chef Remy. You’ll race across the kitchen aboard special trackless ride vehicles and take in the sights, sounds and smells of Gusteau's famous Parisian restaurant. This Disneylicious adventure will be the third ride in World Showcase, joining Frozen Ever After in Norway and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros in Mexico.
As with each World Showcase Pavilion, it's all about the details. Hidden Remys can be found on the benches while outlines of whiskered friends can be spotted throughout the wrought iron fences. I can't wait to sit on one of these benches, crêpe in hand, and watch the gondolas sail by above.
Physical distancing reminders appear throughout the expanded pavilion,
as seen on the bench above
Behind the fence is the path to the main attraction, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. Notice anything familiar about the street name?
The Skyliner route transports Guests through the skies with stops at Epcot & Hollywood Studios as well as four resorts; Disney's Riviera Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort
In addition to Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, the France expansion will also include Le Crêperie de Paris. While Disney hasn’t yet released the menu, it has been stated that the restaurant will draw its inspiration from the Brittany region of France. Guests can expect savory crêpes called "galettes” and sweet crêpes among its offerings. It's rumored that French hard cider will also be on the menu. La Creperie de Paris will offer both table- and quick-service options featuring a menu from celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse, who also heads Les Chefs de France.
Walls surround the remaining portion of the France expansion
The final additions to the France Expansion are new restrooms. In case you're not familiar, restrooms have a following of their own at Disney Parks and it will be interesting to see how these compare (my personal favorite is Rapunzel's Kingdom of Corona restrooms in the Magic Kingdom, but I'll save that for another post).
These restrooms were well appointed and clean but otherwise underwhelming
With filming taking place outside the entrance to Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and the enormous sign now illuminated at night, I can't imagine it will be long before we're saying enchanté to Remy and friends!
